Migration guide from version 4 to 5
This is the procedure for migrating OneComme from version 4 or earlier to version 5.
Version 5 has a feature that automatically migrates data from version 4, so most data such as your Commenters list, settings, and Templates will be migrated automatically.
However, the items listed below are not migrated, so please re-configure them manually.
Migration guide from 4.x
1. Replace your templates
Replace the old version's templates that you set up in OBS with the 5.0 templates.
Also, if you're using custom CSS, replace it with CSS created for version 5.0.
2. Log in to platforms
The update will log you out of all platforms.
You'll need to log in again to retrieve things like members-only streams.
3. Running the old version and version 5.0 at the same time
You can't use both at the same time, since their APIs can't coexist.
Once you've finished replacing your templates and confirming everything works, uninstall the old version.
Also note that any data changed in 4.x after migration will not carry over to 5.0.
* If you want to run the migration process again, you can do so by uninstalling 5.0 and reinstalling it.
* Note that doing so will delete all of your 5.0 data.
Specification changes in 5.0
Application
- Version 5.0 is installed as a completely separate application from version 4 and earlier.
- Uninstall the old version once migration is complete.
- The names of the installation folders for the app's executable, config files, etc. have changed (now unified under the "onecomme" naming).
Installer
- You can now change the install location of the OneComme .exe file.
However, the location of settings and template files generally cannot be changed. - There is a way to change the location of settings and template files, but if you do, we can no longer provide any support, including for issues that arise, so please be aware of this (this method is only shared with certain users, such as active Discord community members — it's not publicly documented).
- The created shortcut name will now include the version number.
- The executable file name is now OneComme.exe.
Templates
Templates shared between the free version and PRO have been merged.
Switching to PRO automatically changes all templates to behave as PRO versions.
If your PRO License expires, templates revert to the free version's behavior.
If your PRO License expires, the "pro" folder is deleted.
The free version's WordParty is now named "word-party", and PRO's WordParty is now named "word-party-pro" (both have the same content, so delete word-party-pro if you don't need it).
The folder structure has changed.
The templates folder now has three folders: preset, pro, and custom.
preset: preset templates anyone can use
pro: templates limited to PRO
custom: original templates that don't fall into the above categories
Add any templates you've created yourself or duplicated to the custom folder.
Some template names have changed.
Some templates' appearance has changed.
